Simba SC end Viper’s hopes of going past the CAF Champions league group stages

Simba SC-CAF Champions League

Vipers Sports Club’s chances of advancing to the knock out stages of the Total Energies CAF Champions league were left hanging on a thread after loosing 1:0 to Simba SC.

In a game played on Tuesday night at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, Clatous Chama’s goal at the death of halftime was enough to stun the Uganda Premier League defending champions.

The loss was their third in four matches of the CAF Champions league this season, failing to score in any of the four while conceding seven.

Vipers’ Ibrahim Orit in action against Simba SC

With only two games left against Raja Casablanca and Horoya AC at home and away respectively, Vipers seem to have seen their champions league season closer to it’s end.

Coach Bianchi’s side will only be able to qualify to the next round if they manage to scoop maximum points from their last two games while praying that Simba loses it’s last two.

The Kitende based side’s goal drought also stretched to seven games, putting coach Bianchi’s future in a huge doubt.

Currently Vipers are at the bottom of Group C with one point while Simba SC moved to the second position with six points.

In the same group, Raja Casablanca mathematically qualified to the next level of CAF Champions league after their 3-1 victory against Horoya AC on Tuesday.

The Morocco giants are at the top of Group C with 12 points while Horoya AC are third with four points.
