Vipers SC humiliated by Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League

Vipers Sports Club’s debut in the glorious tournament of the CAF Champions League ended in misery as they were smashed 5-0 by Moroccan side Raja Club Athletic.

The long awaited day for most of the Venoms fans didn’t go well as the Moroccan giants managed to grab all the three points from the Uganda Premier league defending Champions.

In a match played at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, the dominant Raja Club Athletic saw goals from Hamza Khabba, Jamal Harkass, Roger Aholou, Yousri Bouzok and Mohamed Zrida hand them a victory in the first match of Group C.

The three time CAF Champions League winners were ruthless from the start of the match with two quick fire goals inside the first eleven minutes which added pressure to the Venoms players.

In just five minutes, the hosts had already found the back of the net through a header from Khabba which Goalkeeper Alfred Macumu Mudekereza was at fault for not saving.

Six minutes later, Raja Casablanca got their second through Harkass’s rebound inside the box from a loose ball gifted by Vipers’ short stopper Mundekera.

The hosts manged to stretch their lead in the 38th minute through Zrida who scored with a first time shot after a well weighted cutback from Harkass found him well placed in the box, this took the two teams into the break.

After the break, Vipers conceded more two goals in the 59th and 70th minute respectively courtesy of Bouzouk and Aholou who concluded a frustrating defeat to St Mary’s Kitende based team.

The Venoms will be hoping to bounce back from this heavy loss when they take on AC Horoya from Guinea next weekend on 18th February at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
