British billionaire enters race to buy Manchester United

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe who tried to buy Chelsea last year has entered the race to buy Manchester United.

In November last year, following that explosive Cristiano Ronaldo interview with UK journalist Piers Morgan, the Glazer family said they were “exploring strategic alternatives”.

Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos, according to the BBC said they had “formally put ourselves into the process.”

Last year, Ratcliffe, who is one of the UK’s richest men bid “£4.25bn” to buy Chelsea from then-Russian owner Roman Abramovich but was unsuccessful as Todd Boehly won the race.

Since 2005, Manchester United have been owned by American family the Glazers have in recent years have come under constant criticism from the fans, who have protested several times and questioned their commitment to the future of the club.

Manchester United are currently fourth on the Premier League table, nine points behind leaders Arsenal who they play on Sunday. Erik ten Hag’s side are well within the title race.
